Why people call me instead

Three things you actually get

Anybody can stamp a page. What you're really paying for is your afternoon back and paperwork that doesn't bounce.

You keep your whole afternoon

No taking half a day off. No driving to the bank and getting turned away because their notary went to lunch. You tell me where you'll be and when, and I show up there — the kitchen table, the office, the nursing home, or your driveway if that's easier.

Most Nampa appointments booked same day.

It goes through the first time

Rejected fingerprints, a missing initial, a will signed without the right witnesses — every one of those costs you weeks. I check the whole package before I leave, roll prints that get accepted, and tell you straight if something's wrong instead of stamping it and driving off.

Wills, trusts, POAs and loan packages checked page by page.

You stop guessing what's next

Most people who call me about an apostille have no idea whether they need state or federal, or what has to be notarized first. That's normal — it's a confusing process. I'll tell you the order it goes in, what it costs, and roughly how long it takes before you pay me a dime.

Plain-English answers, no runaround.

My promise to you

If it isn't right, you don't pay for it.

I've done this 3,500 times. I'd rather eat a trip than have you stuck with paperwork that doesn't work.

  • The price I quote is the price you pay No fuel surcharge, no per-page surprise, no “extra document” fee once I'm sitting at your table.
  • You get me. Not a call center Every call, text and appointment is Jim. Nobody's routing you to a stranger who doesn't know your file.
  • If my notarization gets rejected because of my error, I fix it free Wrong wording, missing seal, bad certificate — if the mistake is mine, I come back and redo it at no charge.
  • I'll help you line up your witnesses Wills and trusts need them, and most people can't find two. That's my problem to solve, not yours.

“I almost cried today when he said it was complete.”

I had an elderly couple stuck with the logistics of getting a Power of Attorney and an Apostille so that they didn't have to fly to Mexico just to make a signature. We had been stuck for months of no movement… in a very short order he took what felt like an impossible situation into an absolute breeze and a joy.

Nampa notary questions I get every week

Do you really come to my house in Nampa?

Yes. That's the whole business. Homes, offices, hospitals, rehab centers, assisted living, coffee shops, and more than one car in a parking lot. If you're in Nampa or anywhere in Canyon or Ada County, the travel fee is $95 and there's no extra charge for showing up.

What does it cost?

Mobile notary work is $95 to come to you, plus $5 per notarized signature in Ada and Canyon County. Outside those two counties I'll quote you a flat number before I go.

An Idaho apostille is $185 for the first document and $75 for each additional document on the same order. Fingerprinting starts at $125 plus $10 per FD-258 card. A full California background check is $349 all-inclusive for one applicant. Doing it as a group? Everyone after the first is $299. You'll know your number before I get in the truck.

Why does this cost more than the bank or the UPS Store?

Because you're not paying for a stamp — you're paying for me to drive to you and get it right. The bank is free if you're a customer, they're open when you're at work, and they turn people away every day for expired ID, a document already signed, or a will they won't touch.

If a counter notary works for your situation, use one. I'm honestly not offended. Where I earn the $95 is when the signer can't travel, the deadline is tomorrow, there are witnesses to line up, or the document has to be perfect the first time.

What if you get here and can't notarize it? Do I still pay?

If I can't complete it because of something on my end, you don't pay. If it's because the signer doesn't have valid unexpired ID, isn't able to understand what they're signing, or the document was already signed before I arrived — that's a real trip I made, and the travel fee still applies.

I'd rather catch that on the phone than in your driveway, so tell me up front what ID the signer has. It takes thirty seconds and it saves us both.

How do I know you're legitimate?

Fair question — there are a lot of sketchy operations in the apostille and fingerprinting space. I'm Jim Allen, I run Idaho Mobile Notary Signing Agent, LLC out of the Treasure Valley, I've been a commissioned Idaho notary public since 2018, and I'm bonded, insured and background screened.

You'll get my commission number and expiration on request, you can look me up with the Idaho Secretary of State, and you're always talking to me — not a call center. If something feels off, don't hand over your originals. That goes for me or anybody else.

Do I need everything ready before you come?

Not much. Have the documents unsigned, have valid unexpired photo ID for every signer, and know whether your document needs witnesses. That's it — I bring the seal, the journal, the forms and the fingerprint equipment.

Don't sign anything ahead of time. It's the single most common reason a notarization can't go through, and it's the easiest one to avoid.

Can you notarize a will, trust, or power of attorney?

Yes — I'm a notary for estate planning documents and I do them all the time, including for attorneys across the Valley who hand me their client signings. I don't draft the documents and I can't give you legal advice about what they should say. That's your attorney's job.

What I do is run a calm, correct signing: right ID, right witnesses lined up, every page checked before I leave. If your parent is in the hospital or a care facility, that's a normal Tuesday for me.

State apostille or federal? I have no idea which one I need.

Almost nobody does, and that's not your fault. The short version: documents issued by Idaho — birth certificates, marriage licenses, notarized documents — go through the Idaho Secretary of State. Documents issued by the federal government, like an FBI background check, go through the U.S. Department of State.

Call me, tell me what the document is and what country it's going to, and I'll tell you which track it belongs on and what it'll cost. Then I'll handle the whole thing so you're not mailing originals into a black hole.

Can you do fingerprinting for a California license from here in Idaho?

Yes, and this is the one that saves people the most grief. If you're licensed out of state, California usually tells you that you have to travel there — or routes you to a mailed hard card that comes back rejected weeks later.

I capture your prints with inkless digital equipment, print them onto FD-258 cards right there, and send them on to the channeler that processes the check. One appointment, at your house or office. No trip to California.

Can we do it online instead?

For a lot of documents, yes. I'm a commissioned Idaho Remote Online Notary, so we can meet on video, verify your ID, and sign electronically — useful if you're out of town, out of state, or overseas. Some documents still have to be signed in person, so tell me what you've got and I'll tell you straight which way it has to go.

How fast can you get here?

Most days I can be in Nampa the same day, and I take evening and weekend appointments because that's when most people can actually sit down and sign. If it's an emergency — hospital, hospice, a deadline in the morning — text me at (208) 826-1210 and I'll tell you right away whether I can make it.
